Avoiding Free Makeup Sample Scams

While it is absolutely true that, if you want to, you can get a wide variety of free product samples online for no money what so ever, there are certain things that you will want to avoid in order to keep yourself safe when searching for these freebies on the world wide web. Though there are many places to get your hands on free cosmetic samples, one of the most common methods is to simply search for them using a search engine, like, Google, Yahoo and or Bing. These are all amazingly effective site when it comes to getting the information that you need, but, you might want to take a look at the tips below to make sure that you do not get scammed when it comes to finding these freebies.

Tip #1 - Avoid giving away and personal information, aside the info that is needed to get you your sample. Name, address and email are acceptable requests for information. Credit card number, mother's maiden name or social security number are not.

Tip #2 - Shipping and handling costs may be acceptable when you are shopping online, but not when you are requesting a free sample. Many times websites will tack on shipping costs in order to make money off of you. Remember free is only free if there is no hidden shipping costs.

Tip #3 - You should never have to fill out surveys in order to get your hands on your sample. A few simple questions are fine but when it comes to filling out long surveys, chances are it's a scam. Even if the offer is legitimate, spending hours of your time to get it is hardly worth it all, at least in my opinion. Remember you are doing the company a favor by testing out their products.

Why would a company or website use a free sample to try and scam someone? Some companies are trying to steal your sensitive personal information. Some people are trying to make money off of you. Either way, if you stick to the three tips listed above, you will be able to avoid most online free makeup sample scams.
